Running Parallel
In the draft policy created by Ministerio de Ambiente y Energia (MINAE) the terminology of the grid was established.
Grid Tied, Off Grid (Isolated Operation), Running Parallel (Parallel Operation) to the grid and Island Operation are the types of systems MINAE has designated.
Grid Tied, is when you are using the grid and the net metering policy. Every kilowatt you send to the grid during the day and receive later in the evening will be charged a access rate. You are using the grid as a energy storage (battery). You are interacting with the grid by sending and receiving energy. With this process you will need to be permitted from the electric companies.
Off Grid, is when you are not connected with the grid and interacting with the grid. Your solar system is supplying your energy for your demand. This process is not permitted from the electric companies.
Running Parallel with the grid, is when your solar system is operating and supplying your energy needs. You use the grid when your system does not produce enough to supply your demand. The solar system has a devise that prevents the energy from entering the grid such as a meter. Your system is NOT interacting with the grid but is only receiving energy. This system is used while waiting for permitting which can take up to 8 months. Once your system is permitted your inverter would be set to export into the grid.
CRSS is experiencing a interest in ONLY running to parallel to the grid because of the pressure from the electric companies trying to slow down the increase of solar creating more barriers for permitting. World wide we are seeing a demand from the consumers for autonomous living by using electric vehicles and smart homes for their lifestyle of living.
