We are excited to share with you the partnership of Costa Rica Solar Solutions (CRSS) and NEC Energy Storage Solutions (NECES). This will give CRSS clients the possibility of lower or eliminating the demanda charge from the electric companies in Costa Rica by peak shaving and load shifting using energy storage.
NECES has developed a system that is called the Distributed Storage Solution (DSS) that covers the commercial and industrial usage from 85kW to 510kW. The DSS system is a pre-configured fully integrated AC storage platform using the NEC AEROS controls and software system. The DSS system can be used in front or behind the utility meter and is an economical way to stabilize, smooth intermittent renewable generation and shave demand peaks.
By using the DSS system behind the meter, the client will be able to use the night time lower rates to shave the demand peaks during the day. This would save the client thousands of dollars a month and have short return of investments. When used with renewable energy, the DSS will be even more less dependent for the grid by use excess energy generated and charging the system.
The DSS platform may also be integrated within off-grid and microgrid power systems to deliver many of the same services outlined above.
